OSPOTA - Ohio State Parks On The Air - September 6, 2008

UPDATE: 01 October 2008
This is a list of the logs that have been
received on the OSPOTA contest. A call on this list does
not mean that the claimed scores are correct or incorrect
since the scoring of the logs has not taken place as yet.
We will not start to review the logs until after Oct. 6,
2008, which is the deadline for all log submittals.
We will accept all logs received by that
date plus logs postmarked by and including Oct. 6, 2008.
As a reminder, logs can be submitted
either by e-mail or snail mail. Also, please be sure to
include the Summary Sheet, completed and signed.
Please note that there may have been more
than one call associated with the log submittal. I have
only listed one call or the call on the return address.
Thank you to all those who included
pictures, letters, notes, newspaper articles, and even a
CD of your outing. These are appreciated and we will find
a way to incorporate these in some fashion so that others
can enjoy them also.

OSPOTA - Ohio State Parks On The Air - September 6, 2008
UPDATE: 11 Sept 2008
From all of us at the Portage County Amateur
Radio Service: Thank you to everyone who
participated in our first annual Ohio State Parks On The
Air contest! Without you on the air, whether from one of
the State Parks or your home QTH, OSPOTA would not have
been as successful or as much fun.
An OSPOTA Yahoo group has been created and we
invite you to join it and share your comments about OSPOTA
as well as post photos from your station. You can find
the group at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OSPOTA .
Thousands of contacts were made by the dozens
of stations set up at over forty of the State Parks here
in Ohio. Logs started to roll in by e-mail on September 7th
and by mail a few days later. Make sure you submit your
paper logs to Ohio State Parks On The Air, c/o Chuck
Patellis, K8CMP, P.O. Box 707,
Parkman, OH 44080, or by e-mail to
OSPOTA@portcars.org, no later than October 6th.
PCARS very much appreciates
the cooperation of the Ohio Department of Natural
Resources in facilitating the use of the Ohio State Parks
for OSPOTA. The park staff were well informed about the
event and made all of us feel welcome at the parks.
Planning has already begun for
the Second Annual OSPOTA in 2009. We elected to hold the
contest each year on the first Saturday after Labor Day to
take advantage of the late summer weather in Ohio on a
weekend when activity at the State Parks will be a bit
quieter. In 2009 the contest will be on September 12th.
From year to year we understand there may be schedule
conflicts with other events or contests, but we hope that
you find time to participate in OSPOTA.
Thanks again to everyone who
was on the air for OSPOTA in 2008. Check back on this web
site during the year for announcements about the 2008
winners, updates about the contest and prizes for 2009,
and any revisions to the rules.
Did we mention that we can’t
wait till next year’s contest?

own... leave them
as nice as you found them."
